About Curtis

Curtis D. Neal

Curtis D. Neal

A shepherd to his family and community, Curtis Neal devoted his life to shining God’s light and uplifting every individual he met. In his primary years, he spent many summers at Camp Anokijig, eventually becoming a camp counselor for the organization. Those summers were a natural progression to his spiritual leadership. He committed his being to the church, starting as the deacon and then answering the call as minister. Curtis married the other love of his life, Lisa Neal – he considered their blessed union his greatest accomplishment.

He spread joy to the community through several other passions, including singing and his soulful cooking. The Word of God shined through this dynamism, despite the adversity he faced. Curtis was diagnosed with diabetes at a young age. In his later years, he became afflicted with heart disease. He passed away January 7, 2003, and still, it’s his heart that carries on today in charity, family and the community. Curtis never gave up on any individual, and that essence lives on in the people he touched.
